単語でしか返せない ［オンライン英会話：お天気編］

How's the Weather Today?

　オンライン英会話、天気の話になりますよね。

　簡単そうに思えますが、オンライン英会話初心者の時はパッと答えることができませんでした。

　そこでまずはこれを瞬時に言えるようにしました。

   It's sunny. （晴れ）

   It's raining.　（雨）

   It's cloudy.　（くもり）

　次にこれです。

   It looks like it's going to rain.   
　（雨降りそう）

   It looks like it's going to be sunny.   
　（晴れそう）

   It looks like it's going to snow.   
　（雪が降りそう）

　

　おまけでこれも。

   According to the weather forecast, 
　（天気予報によると、）

   I'm looking out of the window right now,   
　（今窓の外見てるんだけど、）

　合わせるとこんなことが言えます。

According to the weather forecast, it's sunny today. But… I'm looking out of the window right now, it looks like it's going to rain.　　

（天気予報では今日は晴れ。だけど…今窓の外を見ているけど、雨が降りそう。）

　


　オンライン英会話では、単語だけしか口から出ずに落ち込むことが多々あります。

　
　一文を長くするのは大変ですが、簡単な短い文章をつなげると、話せている気分になって、自信がつくのでおススメです。

　今日のブログの内容を英文で書いてみました。下線のあるフレーズには例文も載せているので、ぜひ、自分だけの文章も作ってみてください。

It has been raining hard since yesterday. I hope we're not going to suffer any more serious damage. 

When you're taking online English lessons, I'm sure you are often asked “How's the weather today?”.

When I was a new English learner, I couldn't answer this question. 

To be precise, I often used simple words. I sounded like a kid. 

Every time I said, like “sunny” or “rain”, I felt disappointed in myself.

So I memorized these sentences first. 

• It's sunny.
• It's raining.
• it's cloudy.

And then I learned these sentences.

• It looks like it's going to be sunny.
• It looks like it's going to rain.
• It looks like it's going to snow.

You might want to memorize these sentences without worrying about grammar. But if you're curious about grammar, “sunny” and “cloudy” are adjective, but “rain” and “snow” are verb.

And lastly, these phrases are useful for making longer sentences.

• According to the weather forecast,
• I'm looking out of the window right now,
  
  You can do it!!

 To be precise : より正確に言うと

To be precise, I borrowed a red pencil from your pencil case.   

（より正確に言うと、私はあなたの筆箱から赤鉛筆を借りました。）

 might want to ~ : ～したほうがいいよ・～するといいかも

You might want to prepare for tomorrow while you can.  

（今のうちに明日の準備をしたほうがいいかもよ。）

My dog is curious about his tail. 

 （うちの犬は自分のしっぽが気になる。）
