Overestimate〖～を過大評価する・多く見積もる〗

  “over(上に)” “estimate(見積もる)” からわかるように、能力や量などを実際のそれよりも高く見積もっているさまです。

Underestimate 〖～を過小評価する・低く見積もる・甘く見る〗

対して underestimate は “under(下に)” “estimate(見積もる)” ですね。
過小評価する、甘くみる、見くびる、侮る　などとも訳せます。
